Dixon Duchesses basketball duo makes college choices

Dixon seniors Abby Guthrie and Caylyn Kimmel have signed to continue their basketball and academic careers at the collegiate level.

Guthrie will play at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, while her backcourt mate Kimmel will head to Judson University in Elgin.

Guthrie has been a first-team all-Big Northern selection each of the last two years, averaging 12.1 points and 2.4 assists per game as a junior in 2019-20 and 12.3 points and 2.7 assists as a sophomore in 2018-19. Whitewater went 23-4 overall and 13-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to win the WIAC regular-season title in 2019-20.

Kimmel was a second-team all-BNC pick last season, and an honorable mention selection as a sophomore. She averaged 9.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game in 2019-20, and also stuffed the stat sheet with 8.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game in 2018-19. Judson went 2-26 in 2019-20, and currently sits as 4-9 this season.
