19 new COVID-19 cases Saturday in Whiteside County

Coronavirus cases in the Sauk Valley

The Whiteside County Health Department on Saturday announced 19 new cases of COVID-19 and six recoveries. The new cases involved three people in their 20s, four in their 30s, one in this or her 40s, four in their 50s, five in their 60s, one in his or her 70s and one older than 80.

Lee, Ogle and Carroll counties did not report updated statistics Saturday.

Whiteside County has had 5,342 cases, 4,926 recoveries and 134 deaths. Lee County has had 2,779 cases and 54 deaths. Ogle County has had 4,463 cases, 3,882 recoveries and 59 deaths. Carroll County has had 1,400 cases, 1,344 recoveries and 31 deaths.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has seen 11 consecutive days under the 12% positivity rate. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 7.4%. Currently, 23.3% of medical/surgical beds are available and 21.9% of ICU beds.

The region has 11 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and 11 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.

Within this region, DeKalb County’s positivity rate decreased to 8.9%, Lee County’s rate remained flat at 2.0%, and Whiteside County’s rate decreased to 5.8%.

Hospitalizations have decreased 7 out of the past 10 days in this region.

Illinois on Saturday announced 5,343 new cases and 130 deaths. There have been 1,064,667 cases and 18,179 deaths statewide.

Sterling has had 16,813 tests and 1,974 cases. Rock Falls has had 8,133 tests and 1,153 cases. Dixon has had 32,129 tests and 2,028 cases. Rochelle has had 9,846 tests and 1,460 cases.
