Area roundup: L-P soccer tops Serena for first win

Luis Romero had a goal and an assist Friday to help the La Salle-Peru boys soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Serena in a non-conference game in La Salle.

Lyan Gonzalez scored a goal for the Cavaliers (1-1), while Chris Garcia made nine savs.

Earlville 8, Plano 0

Diego Vazquez scored three goals and had an assist Friday to lead the Red Raiders to an 8-0 victory in a non-conference game in Plano.

Devyn Kennedy scored a pair of goals, Carlos Gonzalez had a goal and an assist and Griffin Cook and Trenton Fruit added a goal each.

VOLLEYBALL

St. Bede def. Earlville 23-25, 25-18, 25-12

The Lady Bruins stayed undefeated with a non-conference victory Friday in Earlville.

Mady Olson had 17 digs and six kills for the Lady Red Raiders, while Emma Benson added 15 assists, eight digs and three aces.

VOLLEYBALL

Mendota def. Rockford Christian 25-22, 25-20

Ella Massey had 14 assists, eight digs and two kills as the Mendota volleyball team earned a Big Northern Conference victory in coach Nicci Gibson’s debut with the Spikers.

Jenna O’Donnell had 13 digs for MHS, while Jaelyn Fitzgerald added three kills and a block.

St. Bede def. Kewanee 25-19, 25-19

Reese Ludford put down 11 kills, served six aces and had five digs as the Lady Bruins earned a Three Rivers Conference East Division victory in Kewanee.

Elaina Wamhoff had 20 assists, seven digs, three kills and three aces for St. Bede (2-0, 2-0 TRC), while Miranda Mazorana added eight digs and a pair of aces.

Earlville def. Somonauk 22-25, 25-11, 25-19

Elizabeth Browder served 12 points and put down eight kills to help the Lady Red Raiders to a Little Ten Conference victory in Somonauk.

Emma Benson had 19 assists and six aces, Brynn Guelde contributed seven kills and Alexis Olson added six kills for Earlville (2-0, 2-0 LTC).

LaMoille-Ohio def. Hiawatha 25-20, 25-17

McKenna Klein served for 12 points and four aces as the Lady Lions earned a Little Ten Conference victory in LaMoille.

Ki’Ayana Moore had five kills, two blocks and a pair of digs for L-O, while Ella Cherry added six assists.

Tri-Valley def. Fieldcrest 25-15, 25-17

Allie Wiesenhofer had 13 digs and three kills as the Knights fell in a Heart of Illinois Conference match in Downs.

BOYS SOCCER

Mendota 10, Winnebago 0

Johnathan Cortez scored three goals and had an assist as the Trojans rolled to a Big Northern Conference victory in their season opener in Mendota.

Yahir Diaz scored a goal and had three assists, Ricki Orosco had a goal and an assist and Jose Ruiz, Edgar Arteaga, Jasiel Watson, Izaiah Nanez and Luis Garcia each added a goal.
