Westmont police investigate armed robbery

Westmont police are investigating a Wednesday night armed robbery during which several shots were fired at the victim, police said.

The incident took place at about 9:59 p.m. in the 1000 block of South Williams Street when the victim was followed into a parking lot by a dark colored SUV.

The victim was approached by two male offenders wearing dark clothing and both armed with a firearm, police said. As the victim ran from the offenders, multiple shots were fired at the victim. None of the rounds struck the victim. One round entered a nearby vacant residence, authorities said. Offenders took $2,500 from the victim, police said.

Officers recovered multiple casings from the scene.This appears to be an isolated incident with no further threat to the community. Please be alert and report any suspicious vehicles or persons in the area, police said.
