Glen Ellyn trustees on Monday night will consider whether to allow recreational marijuana businesses within village limits or continue opting out of sales.
The renewed debate comes as the village’s moratorium on legal pot businesses is expiring. The ban -- extended twice since November 2019 -- now runs through Sept. 28.
In the November 2020 election, the village placed a nonbinding question on the ballot asking voters to weigh in on the issue. About 51.25% supported allowing marijuana sales, while 48.75% of voters were against.
Municipalities can place local sales taxes of up to 3% on recreational marijuana sales.
The board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Glen Ellyn Civic Center, 535 Duane St.
