Girls Volleyball: Suburban Life All-Area Team

Here is the Suburban Life All-Area girls volleyball team.

Madison Cuchran, Downers Grove North, senior, libero: Michigan recruit had 133 digs in 12 matches, averaging 5.5 digs a set for West Suburban Silver champs. Had a 92% serve-reception rate and 97% serve rate with nine aces.

Darby Harris, Wheaton Warrenville South, junior, setter: Three-year varsity starter. All-conference in the past playing out of position at libero, Harris moved to her national position of setter this spring. Had 367 assists while playing with 15 different lineups. Also had 50 kills, 20 blocks, 24 aces and 59 digs.

Sophie Hurt, IC Catholic Prep, senior, setter: Northern Illinois recruit, four-year varsity starter and Metro Suburban Conference Blue Division Player of the Year led Knights to 17-0 record – not losing a single set – this spring. Three-time all-conference pick finished season with 301 assists, with just one ball handling error in 752 attempts. She served 91% for the season and recorded 31 service aces on 175 attempts. She added 94 digs (2.8 a set) on the defensive side.

Kyla Kenney, Benet, senior, outside hitter: Indiana recruit was a four-year starter and one of the state’s best outsides. Led Benet in kills with 107 at a .306 hitting percentage. Had 65 digs and 2.03 passer rating for 10-0 Redwings who went 51-1 the past two seasons.

Rachel Muisenga, Benet, senior, setter: Penn State recruit was a four-year starter and leader of Benet team that won Class 4A state title in 2019 and finished 10-0 this spring, going 51-1 the past two seasons. East Suburban Catholic Conference Player of the Year had 231 assists, 30 kills, 17 blocks, 65 digs and nine aces.

Makayla Webber, Glenbard West, senior, middle: Three-year starter led Glenbard West to 14-3 record in solid bounce-back season. Led Hilltoppers in kills with 53 and blocks with 27.

Gwen Wolkow, Downers Grove North, junior, outside hitter: Committed to play in college at Campbell University. In 12 matches, Wolkow had 137 kills, averaging 5.3 kills a set for West Suburban Silver champions. Wolkow also had 13 aces, 10 blocks, 59 digs and a 95% serve-receive rate.
