High school sports roundup for Saturday, Dec. 4: Ben VanderWal scores 30, Timothy Christian rallies to win thriller with Wheaton Academy

BOYS BASKETBALL

Timothy Christian 50, Wheaton Academy 49

Ben VanderWal had 30 points, nine rebounds and three blocks, and the Trojans (3-3, 1-0) erased a seven-point deficit after three quarters to win a thriller over the Warriors. Alex Keizer added 11 points and six rebounds for Timothy Christian. Cole Andrews led Wheaton Academy with 19 points and Sam Anderson added 10.

Riverside-Brookfield 69, Lyons 59

JP Hanley scored 21 points and Will Gonzalez added 12 for the Bulldogs. Tavari Johnson led Lyons with 15 points.

York 40, Naperville North 39

Drew Kircher scored 14 points and AJ Levine seven for the Dukes.

Deerfield 69, Willowbrook 65 (2OT)

Noah Campbell had 29 points and four rebounds and Marquel Saleek 24 points, nine rebounds and four assists for the Warriors.

Wheaton North 49, St. Francis 45

Claire Hyde scored 22 points for the Falcons, who led by 11 after a quarter and fell behind briefly in the fourth quarter before pulling out the non-conference win. Zoe Bohmer added eight for Wheaton North.

Katie Anne De Craene scored 13 points and Dolly Smith added 11 for the Spartans (5-2).

Downers Grove North 43, Lincoln-Way East 23

Ryann Wendt scored 13 points to pace the Trojans (8-1) at the Chicagoland Invitational Showcase at Fremd.

Benet 50, Libertyville 46

Morgan Demos scored 15 points to lead the Redwings at the Chicagoland Invitational Showcase at Fremd.

Glenbard West 56, Hinsdale Central 51

Kennedy Brandt scored 21 points and Julia Benjamin 13 for the Hilltoppers. Eleanor Monyek scored 15 points and Lily Sarros 12 for the Red Devils.

Willowbrook 57, Proviso East 22

Sophie Sullivan had 18 points and four assists, Calli Kenny 13 points, nine rebounds, four blocks and four steals and Elle Bruschuk 10 points, 10 steals and six assists for Willowbrook.
