DuPage County reports 220 COVID-19 cases Friday, 1 death, region’s positivity remains at 7.1%

The DuPage County Health Department on Friday reported 220 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 1 death, a woman in her 90s.

The county now has seen a total of 68,306 coronavirus cases including 1,103 deaths, according to the healtxh department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of Jan. 26 was 98.1%.

DuPage County has administered a total of 65,102 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 17,989 residents, or 1.94% of the total population, fully vaccinated.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen zero days below the 6.5% threshold to advance to Phase 4. The region’s positivity rate stayed flat at 7.1%. Currently, 29% of ICU beds are available.

The region has 46 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average decreased to 8.0%, and DuPage County’s decreased to 6.6%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 4,156 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 71 additional deaths Friday, and a total of 887,845 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.

By town, Wheaton has had 3,667 total cases, Glen Ellyn 2,588, Lombard 3,557, Villa Park 2,132, Hinsdale 1,101, Westmont 1,737, Darien 1,414, Woodridge 2,128, Downers Grove 3,238, Elmhurst 3,520, Warrenville 1,089 and Winfield 883. Addison has had 4,195 confirmed cases, Naperville 5,794, Carol Stream 3,683 and West Chicago 3,769.
