Minooka's TJ Quinn capped a stellar high school career by being named the 2024 Herald-News Boys Golfer of the Year.
The Nazareth, Marmion and Lemont boys golf teams advanced to state out of the Class 2A Lemont Sectional on Monday, while Marmion's Regan Konen was the medalist with a 68.
Minooka senior TJ Quinn shot a 2-under par 69 to edge out Joliet Township senior Mitchell Fulayter by a stroke at the Class 3A Lockport Regional, leading Minooka to its first regional title since 2002. Lincoln-Way East and Lincoln-Way West also advanced teams to sectionals.
Several teams including Sycamore, Kaneland, LaSalle-Peru, Ottawa and Morris were at the Kishwaukee Country Club in DeKalb to compete in the Interstate 8 boys golf tournament.
Area golf teams from Streator, Ottawa, Hall, La Salle-Peru, Kaneland, Sycamore, Morris, Dixon, Parkview Christian, Minooka and Marmion Academy all competed in the Pirate Invitational meet on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024 at Deer Park Golf Course in Oglesby.
