State Rep. Ugaste responds to violence at Capitol

GENEVA – State Rep. Dan Ugaste (R-Geneva) has issued a statement on the protests at the United States Capitol on Wednesday.

“The scene that I watched on the news this afternoon of the protests in our nation’s Capitol is absolutely horrifying. It’s un-American and unacceptable. While I firmly believe in our First Amendment rights, the violence that was brought into our house of government today is far beyond freedom of speech.

Violence is never the answer. We cannot let the actions of today take away from what we know is true: democracy works and we must stand by those beliefs that have made our country what it is.”
