Lincoln-Way West qualified for the IHSA Competitive Cheerleading finals for the second year in a row, a feat it last accomplished when it went to state during its first five years as a program. Its lone trophy, for third place in the Medium School division, came in 2015.
Coach Nicole White has led the last two teams to state. This year's team qualified by taking second place in the Large Team division at the Joliet Central Sectional with a 92.03 score.
"We as coaches are very proud of the commit and growth the team has taken to get this far.” White said.
Members of the team include Kayla Aspel, Kalei Belt, Amiyah Chapman, Emily Hill, Erica Johnson, Jordan Kittl, Caroline Klee, Aubrey Lenard, Emmy Lynch, Payton Malpeli, Maeve McNamee, Erica Meadows, Madison Raleigh, Andrea Ridgeway, Grace Rinke, Alyssa Saso, Emmi Scofield, Sophia Sestak, Bella Telez, Rachel Turay, Peyton Wilson and Emily Wydajewski.
