
Plainfield North won medals in all four relays — winning two of them — en route to a fifth-place finish in Class 3A on Saturday at Eastern Illinois University’s O’Brien Field. Meanwhile Lockport senior Mckena Miglorini and Reed-Custer junior Sophia Burciaga won pole vault titles.
Taking a look at possible medalists and stories to watch for in The Herald-News area at the girls track and field state meet this weekend at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.

The Seneca girls track and field team captured the program's 13th consecutive Class 1A sectional title on Thursday at Seneca High School.

Teams from Aurora Christian, Beecher, Dwight, Earlville, Hinckley-Big Rock, Kankakee-McNamara, Lisle, Momence, Newark, Marquette, Seneca, Indian Creek, Somonauk, Westmont, Wilmington and Yorkville all competed during the Class 1A Sectional track meet on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Seneca High School.

Solecki showed off her improvement by winning the discus (36.53 meters) and the shot put (11.17) at the Class 3A Downers Grove South Sectional to stamp her ticket to next weekend’s state track and field meet in Charleston. Both winning tosses were personal bests for Solecki.

Plainfield North finished with 147 points to Oswego East’s 119.5, with host Minooka third at 116 in the Southwest Prairie Conference Meet on Wednesday.

The Morris boys and Lemont girls picked up team titles at the Morris Night of Relays

Prospect won with 137 points, Huntley was second with 80 and Lincoln-Way East was third with 76.5 points.
