Lois Boyle

MCNABB — Lois Altpeter Boyle, 95, of McNabb passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 26, 2017.

Lois was born in Chicago on Nov. 13, 1922, to Dorothy Ann (Ferking) and Walter George Altpeter. Lois married Francis Albert Boyle on July 21, 1945. He died Dec. 31, 2011.

Lois graduated from Lyons Township High School in La Grange and the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. She was president of the Chi Omega sorority.

She was a member of Marshall-Putnam Home Extension, Country Women’s Club and Crafty Crew. She volunteered for the Putnam County Historical Society, American Heart Association and American Cancer Society.

Lois, the city girl, learned to love country life on the farm as reflected by her beautiful flower gardens and her “tree House.”

Surviving are her children, Nancy (Phil) Hopkins of McNabb and Sally Rey Boyle of Milwaukee, Wis.; her grandchildren, Todd (Katie) Hopkins of Ottawa, Therese (Mike) Skwarczynski of Channahon, Terri (Aaron) Spencer of Long Beach, Calif., and Kay (Nathaniel) Foote of East Peoria.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Parks and Nonine Vieth; and her son, Walter Boyle.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at the Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel in Granville. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Hennepin.

Memorials may be directed to the Putnam County Historical Society, Putnam County Emergency Medical Service or the donor’s choice.

Pallbearers will be Lois’s grandchildren.
