Harry L. Deets, 87, Polo, died Wednesday, Oct.16, 2013, at KSB Hospital, Dixon.
He was born April 24, 1926 in Sterling, the son of Fremont and Teresa (Dombrowski) Deets.
He married Thelma Wombwell on Nov. 9, 1945 in Dixon. She preceded him in death in January of 2004.
Harry farmed in the Polo and Sterling area for many years, then went on to work for Henry Pratt for more than 20 years as a welder until he retired.
He was a longtime member of East Jordan United Methodist Church and current member of Faith United Methodist Church, Polo.
Harry was square dance caller and member of the Leaf River Lucky Leafs. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Germany during World War II as a Military Police Officer.
Survivors include daughters, Anita (Dan) Ford, Polo, Lora Lee (Chuck) Hedrick, Houston, Texas, Lois Ann (Bruce) Wilson, Houston, Texas; son James L. Deets, Polo; grandchildren Christine Stamm, Jason (Erika) Ford, Heather (Steve) Ridenhour, Amber (Russell) Stewart, Morgan Lee Hedrick, Taylor Hedrick, Mark Wilson, Kirk Wilson; and special friend, Lois Voss, Polo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and four brothers.
Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Polo Family Funeral Home.
The funeral will be Monday, Oct. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, Polo. Burial will be at East Jordan Cemetery, Sterling.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to Faith United Methodist Church, 702 E Dixon St, Polo, IL 61064.
