The IHSA, Illinois State University and the Bloomington-Normal Area Convention and Visitors Bureau announced this week it has reached a five-year contract extension for the IHSA Girls Basketball State Finals to remain at CEFCU Arena.


East Dubuque scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to edge the Cardinals 4-3 and win the 1A Forreston Sectional on Saturday, May 25, 2024. The Cardinals scored two runs in he bottom of the fifth inning to take a 3-1 lead going into the final inning. East Dubuque moves on to the supersectional in Rockford on Monday.


Carson Akins had two hits and four RBIs to lead the Forreston Cardinals to a 10-4 win over Lena-Winslow in the 1A Forreston Sectional semifinal. Kendall Erdmann and Alex Schoonhoven drove in a pair for Forreston (24-8-1). The Cardinals will face East Dubuque for the sectional title on Saturday. Game time is 11 a.m.


Stillman Valley edged Oregon 2-1 at the 1A Indian Creek Sectional on Saturday, May 18, 2024, ended the Hawks season at 18 wins and two losses. Stillman Valley scored two goals before Oregon's Sarah Eckardt found Anna Stender in the center of the field for the Hawks lone goal. Stillman Valley will face Rock Island Alleman for the sectional championship on Tuesday, May 21. Alleman downed Byron 4-1 in the other sectional semi-final.


Forreston finished second in the team totals at the 1A Winnebago Sectional in Winnebago on Friday, May 17, 2024. The Cardinals, who co-op with Polo, qualified individuals and relay teams to next week's state finals at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. Winnebago won the 14-team event and Oregon finished fourth.


The Hawks' soccer team downed Aurora Central Catholic 4-1 to win the 1A Oregon Regional on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Oregon Park East. With the win, the Hawks boosted their record to 18-1 and will face Stillman Valley at the Shabbona (Indian Creek) Sectional on Saturday, May 18. Game time is noon.


Forreston-Polo won the 1A Oregon Sectional at Landers-Loomis Field on Friday, May 10, 2024. Athletes from 16 teams competed to try to qualify for the state meet at Eastern Illinois University. Forreston-Polo won the meet with 101.5 points followed by Winnebago with 97.75 and Oregon with 74.5,
