Thomas R. Chiado

GRANVILLE — Thomas R. Chiado, 69, of rural Granville died unexpectedly at 12:16 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at St. Margaret's Hospital in Spring Valley.

He was born Sept. 27, 1943, in Spring Valley to Thomas A. and Ester (Samuelson) Chiado. He married Lois Tarrence on Oct. 30, 1965, in Hennepin.

He was a crane operator and mechanic, working first for WS Bills of Streator then for E.J. Cattani Crane Rental in Ladd and Ladd Construction. He retired in 2006 after 50 years of being a member of Operating Engineers Local 150. He was a member of Marshall-Putnam Antique Tractor Club.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Tom Chiado of Van Orin and John (Vicki) Chiado of rural Granville; one brother, Ronald (Diane) Chiado of rural Granville; three grandchildren, Anna Benson, and Zachary and Kole Chiado; and one great-granddaughter, Alejandra.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services were Aug. 29 at Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley with Rev. Robert Spillman officiating. Burial was in Valley Memorial Park in Spring Valley.

Pallbearers were Richard, Mark and Bill Chiado, Jim Tarrence, Tony Maggi and Frank Bruer.
