Henry W. Swalve, 88, Forreston, died Friday, Aug. 21,2009 in Provena St. Joseph Center, Freeport.
He was born April 7, 1921 on the family farm near Forreston, the son of John H. and Minnie (Duitsman) Swalve.
Swalve married Vada Mae Schoonhovenon June 18, 1949 at Forreston Grove Church.
He was a lifelong Forreston area farmer.
He was a former member of Forreston Grove Church and a current member of Grace Fellowship Church, Freeport.
He enjoyed bowling, softball and was a member of the Swalve Family Softball Team.
He enjoyed following the Chicago Cubs and restoring Allis-Chalmers tractors.
He is survived by his wife, Vada; daughters, Pat (Dan) Medler, Freeport. Victoria (Victor) Swalve-Singley, Freeport, Cindy (Mike) Hagemann, Baileyville and Jacki (Larry) Sander, Baileyville; sister-in-law, Lois Swalve-Bolen; eight grandchildren, Valerie (Todd) Weber, Evan ( fiancée Lindsay) Hagemann, Michael and Kimberley Medler, Jessica, Christopher, Deverick and Kerrigan Sander; three great-grandchildren, Dalia, Cole and Maverick Weber.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam and Marvin; and a sister, Ruth Klock.
Funeral services were held Aug. 25 at Baileyville Reformed Church with Rev. John Tilstra officiating.
Burial was at Forreston Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in his name.
