Those looking forward to the opening of Scene75 in Romeoville, an entertainment center set in the former Sam’s Club on Weber Road, will have to wait a bit longer.

Supply chain issues are causing “major construction delays,” Ronnie Neumann, the general manager of Scene75′s Romeoville location, said in an email.

While the Ohio-based company said it had originally anticipated opening this winter, Neumann said the delays will push back the opening to this summer.

The village of Romeoville announced that Scene75 was coming to the former Sam’s Club at 460 S. Weber Road. It will be the company’s first location in Illinois.

Neumann said in order to retrofit the former store into the entertainment center, Scene75′s construction company needed to run several new water and sewer pipes to add bathrooms as well as for space for new bars and restaurants.

While the company had expected to complete all necessary digging and have the needed supplies last October, it’s “just now wrapping everything up,” Neumann said in an email.

Then, he added, the needed digging on the property took longer than expected due to labor shortages in the construction industry.

Several vital pieces of cooking equipment also took longer to acquire in order to finish construction of the restaurant’s kitchen.

The company will take over the 135,000 square-foot building with an indoor spinning roller coaster, go-karts, laser tag, arcade games and more.

The center will also include a motion simulator, an inflatable bouncing and toddler zone, a nine-hole mini-golf course, bumper cars, party rooms along with the restaurant, bar and snack counter, according to a village of Romeoville release.

Neumann said his best conservative guess for when the center could open would be in August.

“However, the delays have made it impossible to know for sure,” he said.

Scene75 is a family owned and has won international recognition for its other venues.

The Weber Road site was among a number of Sam’s Club locations that Walmart Stores Inc. closed in 2018.
