A Joliet man charged with a shooting that left two people wounded was briefly jailed after he picked up a felony drug charge.

About 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Eduardo Flores, 24, was taken to the Will County jail after he violated his bond with a felony charge that accused him of possessing more than 100 grams of marijuana on Sept. 22, court records show.

Flores and his brother Luis Flores, 25, were both arrested in connection with an Oct. 20, 2020, shooting that left two people injured.

Luis Flores was taken to jail when he appeared in court on Nov. 2, 2020. He remains in jail on a $4000,000 bond.

Following Eduardo Flores’ latest felony drug charge, Judge Ken Zelazo set his new bond at $750,000. Yet Eduardo Flores was able to post 10% of that amount for his release.

A Shorewood resident posted $25,000 needed for his release since Flores had already posted $50,000 for the $500,000 bond previously set in the case, court records show.

The shooting cases against both Flores brothers have yet to go to trial.

The events that led to the brothers’ arrest began about 6 p.m. Oct. 20, 2020, when officers responded to the 1000 block of East Washington Street in reference to a report of a shooting, Joliet police officials said.

When the officers arrived, they located a man who had been shot in the abdomen and a woman with a graze wound to her arm while they were in the driveway of a residence, police said.

An investigation revealed two suspects had arrived in a vehicle and an argument ensued, police said.

“One of the suspects exited the vehicle, at which time he displayed a firearm and began shooting at the victims,” police said.

The suspects then fled in the vehicle from the area.

Joliet police detectives “quickly identified the suspects as brothers Eduardo Flores and Luis Flores,” police said.

“Eduardo Flores was located a short time later that evening and taken into custody without incident,” police said.
