2 brothers shot at man, woman in Joliet: cops

1 brother apprehended, according to police

Two brothers were involved in a shooting in Joliet that left a man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen and a woman with a graze wound to her arm in the driveway of a residence, police said.

Eduardo Flores, 23, of Joliet, has been apprehended in connection with the incident but his brother Luis Flores remains at large, according to Joliet police.

Eduardo Flores has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm, court records show. During Wednesday’s bond hearing, a judge set his bond at $1.5 million.

About 6 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the 1000 block of East Washington Street in reference to a report of a shooting, according to a Joliet police news release.

When the officers arrived, they located a man who had been shot in the abdomen and a woman with a graze wound to her arm while they were in the driveway of a residence, police said.

An investigation revealed two suspects had arrived in a vehicle and an argument ensued, police said.

“One of the suspects exited the vehicle, at which time he displayed a firearm and began shooting at the victims,” police said.

The suspects then fled in the vehicle from the area.

The male victim was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox by paramedics with the Joliet Fire Department. The female victim refused medical assistance at the scene.

Joliet police detectives “quickly identified the suspects as brothers Eduardo Flores and Luis Flores,” police said.

“Eduardo Flores was located a short time later that evening and taken into custody without incident,” police said.

On Thursday, an arrest warrant was issued for Luis Flores on charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, police said.
