Woman reportedly shot at man on Joliet’s West Side: cops

No one injured but 1 vehicle damaged, police said

A woman was arrested after officers determined she fired a gun at another man on Joliet’s West Side and then fled the area, police said.

Shortly before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to Earl Avenue for a report of a possible shooting, Joliet police said in a news release.

A 27-year-old woman was identified by officers as the suspected shooter, according to police.

“Upon arrival, officers determined that (the woman) had fired a handgun at an adult male victim, missing him,” police said.

The woman left the area in a vehicle, according to police, who later learned in their investigation that a nearby unoccupied vehicle was struck by a round that Cooley had fired.

Officers checked the area and then conducted a traffic stop on a suspect vehicle, where the woman was found, police said.

The woman was taken into custody without incident, police said.

“Officers were unable to locate the weapon that was used,” police said.

The woman was arrested on probable cause of aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon and criminal damage to property.

As of Wednesday afternoon, online court records did not show any formal charges filed against the woman in connection with the incident. She was released from the Will County about 4:50 p.m. the same day.
