Minooka boys soccer beats East Moline United, advances to regional final

The Minooka boys soccer team rolled into the Class 3A Normal Community Regional championship by defeating East Moline United in the semifinal round on Wednesday.

Minooka will play either Normal Community or Pekin at 11 a.m. Saturday for a 3A regional championship title.

Lincoln-Way West 4, Andrew 3 (SO): Jack Towner got Lincoln-Way West going on the right foot by scoring two goals in the first 15 minutes of the Class 3A Lincoln-Way West Regional semifinal match, but the Warriors ultimately had to survive a shootout to advance.

The Warriors will play Bloom in the regional championship match at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

VOLLEYBALL

Lincoln-Way West 2, Stagg 1: The Warriors put together a fine effort with a win on senior night.

Caroline Smith led the Warriors with four blocks, and Alexa Flores had 14 assists.

Bolingbrook 2, Batavia 0: The Raiders improved to 19-15 with the nonconference victory.

Marist 2, Minooka 0: The Indians fell in a nonconference match.
