Plano police have confirmed that the suspect in last weeks shooting of a 70-year-old Plano man was the victim's son.

Police noted their decision to call attention to Autism Awareness Month has been done with the support of the city, Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office, Kendall County Health Department, Plano School District 88 and the Plano Area Special Education Cooperative.

In a statement, police said the suspect's vehicle was observed speeding 27 mph over the posted speed limit on Route 34 and initially fled from officers who attempted to stop it.

Plano police said in a statement that "at this time, there is no evidence that a gun was fired. There is no immediate threat to the public."
