DIXON - The Washington Point subdivision project is moving forward to add 16 homes in Dixon.
Hvarre Development is looking to build 15 single-family homes and one multi-family home at the former Washington Park athletic fields following a land swap with the city.
In December 2020, the City Council entered into an agreement with Dixon Public Schools to purchase the 4.4-acre Washington Park property, which once was used for physical education classes for nearby Washington School, for $1.
The school district originally put out the call for bids on the property, starting at $100,000, but didn’t receive any interest. The district hasn’t used the site for several years, but organizations such as the River Bandits baseball club and the Al Morrison baseball league would use one of two baseball diamonds for games.
The city will take ownership of the property in the next month or so, and it has an annexation agreement with Hvarre Holdings LLC to swap the Washington Park property with almost 19 acres in south west Dixon.
The City Council approved preliminary and final plat plans for the Washington Point subdivision Monday. It will be broken down into 15 single-family homes with the option for building a two-story, four-unit home on one of the parcels, City Manager Danny Langloss said.
Hvarre also has plans for a 70-unit rental community in south Dixon and 48 townhomes in Oregon.
