Huntley’s Ryan Bakes and Harout Meyer combined to drive in four runs as the Red Raiders defeated Crystal Lake Central, 5-0, in their Fox Valley Conference baseball opener Monday.
Huntley, the defending FVC champion, got three hits from Bakes, who scored one run. Meyer had two hits and scored once. Brayden Bakes, Ryan Quinlan and Lucas Goldstein also scored for the Raiders
Adam Guazzo struck out seven through five innings, and Michael Vitellaro struck out five through 1 ⅔ innings of relief. Huntley moved to 6-1.
SOFTBALL
Prairie Ridge 11, McHenry 11 (susp.): Because of darkness, the game was suspended. It is to be completed April 25.
Kayla Davis went 3 for 4 and drove in three runs with one run scored. Hope McHugh and Emily Harlow each had an RBI, and Mary Myers drove in two. Kaylee Jarrard hit a single with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game.
Elena Smith pitched and allowed three earned runs.
GIRLS SOCCER
Richmond-Burton 6, Woodstock 1: At Richmond, Reese Frericks scored four and Layne Frericks scored two to earn the nonconference win.
Reese Frericks scored the Rockets’ first two goals with assists from Layne Frericks and Margaret Slove. Layne Frericks scored the third with an assist from Brianna Maldonado. Reese Frericks had another with an assist from Jordan Otto. Reese Frericks and Layne Frericks had unassisted goals to finish the scoring.
Taylor LaBay made three saves for R-B.
Keira Bogott scored in the first half to contribute to the Blue Streaks’ only goal.
Val Sardelli was in goal with 17 saves.
BOYS TENNIS
Crystal Lake Central 6, Antioch 1: At Antioch, the Tigers swept the Sequoits at singles and won at Nos. 1, 3, and 4 doubles.
Logan Wasilk, Lucas Kurkowski, and Avnish Khandeshi each swept at singles. Ben Weichman and Brandon Oconer (No. 1) won, 6-0, in both sets and KJ Flanigan and Andrew Stawski (No. 4) won, 6-4, 6-1. Parker Tapp and Oliver True (No. 3) came from behind with a 4-6, 7-6, 14-12 victory.
Woodstock 6, Belvidere 0: At Woodstock, the Blue Streaks won all three singles and all three doubles matches.
In singles, Brett Neuhart (No. 1) won, 6-4, 6-0; Vince Perez (No. 2) won, 6-0, 6-1; and Carlos Fito (No. 3) won, 6-1, 6-3.
In doubles, Matt Keyzer and Jacob Murray (No. 1) won, 6-0, 6-2; Liam Hanson and Devon Oliveria (No. 2) won, 6-2, 6-1; Hunter Lisowski and Cooper Pajich (No. 3) won, 6-1, 6-0.
Grayslake North 4, Woodstock North 3: At Woodstock, the Thunder won the last three doubles matches and came up short against the Knights in their nonconference dual match.
Erik Sarabia and Erik Hermansson won at No. 2, Dominic Lopez and Marko Ortiz won at No. 3 and Justin Chase and Nick Dickson won at No. 4 for the Thunder.

Prairie Ridge 11, Antioch 6: At Crystal Lake, the Wolves secured a nonconference victory.
Lakes 17, McHenry 8: At Lake Villa, the Warriors (0-3) fell to the Eagles in their nonconference game.
BOYS TRACK AND FIELD
Genoa-Kingston Meet: Marengo picked up five individual first places and edged out Harvard for first in the five-team meet in Genoa. Marengo finished with 87 points, Harvard had 85.32 and G-K had 84.32.
Marcus Ray (400 meters), Mario Lopez (800), Gage Lopez (1,600), Drew Palanos (300 intermediate hurdles) and Anthony Kirchhoff (high jump) all won events for the Indians.
Palanos also took second in the 110 high hurdles.
Harvard’s Ivan Rosas and Christian Mercado finished 1-2 in the long and triple jumps to get the Hornets big points.
The Hornets also got seconds from Luis Gomez (shot put), Eduardo Flores (200) and Steven Austin (800).
