Letter: McHenry Lions Club thanks community

The McHenry Lions Club wishes to acknowledge our community partners for their support of our July fundraisers. Thank you to everyone who purchased a raffle ticket. Thanks to our patrons at our food tent at the Fiesta Days Art and Street Fair. Thank you to our volunteers. Special thanks to Best Bargains Inc. in Burlington, Wisconsin, and Angelo’s Fresh Market in McHenry for their support.

In spite of COVID-19, the McHenry Lions Club has continued to support the less fortunate. We have purchased eye exams and eyeglasses for needy children and adults, have volunteered on a weekly basis at the Wonder Lake Neighbors Food Pantry, “rang the bell” for the Salvation Army at Christmas time, donated trees for Arbor Day in memory of two of our members, and collected hundreds of used eyeglasses. Our Facebook page (e-clubhouse.org/sites/mchenry/) is up to date and we have a new email address, mchenrylionsclub@gmail.com We are a member of the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce.

If you are looking for a new opportunity for serve in our community, we invite you to attend one of our meetings. We meet at the Wonder Lake Public Works Building on the second Monday of the month at 7 p.m. We plan to resume a full meeting schedule of two meetings per month at a local restaurant this September.
