Woodstock man convicted of predatory criminal sexual assault, faces decades in prison

Nathan Rigg

A 35-year-old Woodstock man convicted on two counts of class X predatory criminal sexual assault faces as much as a 120-year prison sentence.

Nathan Rigg, of the 200 block of North Tryon Street, is set for sentencing at 1:30 p.m. April 14 where he could face up to 60 years in prison on each conviction. Sentencing would run consecutively, Assistant State’s Attorney Tyler Mikan said.

If he were to be released from prison, the class X convictions also carry a mandatory registration as a sex offender for life.

Rigg was found guilty following a bench trial in front of McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge held over two days on Feb. 9 and 10. Coppedge took the case under advisement and issued his decision Friday, Mikan said.

The offenses occurred in 2019. The case was investigated by Woodstock Police and a warrant was issued for his arrest in March 2020. Rigg turned himself into Woodstock Police that month.
