Brian Jones to seek election to District 11

GENEVA – Geneva resident and Chicago attorney Brian Jones announced in a news release that he is seeking the Republican nomination for Kane County Board.

Jones wants to fill the seat in the 11th District, which will be vacated by John Martin, R-Geneva, who is not seeking re-election, the release stated.

The primary is on June 28 and the general election is Nov. 8.

All County Board terms end on Nov. 30 this year, following redistricting. The County Board determined the staggered terms at the Dec. 15, 2021 meeting by drawing straws.

Even-numbered districts will have two-year terms, followed by two four-year terms. Odd-numbered districts will have four-year terms, followed by a four-year term and a two-year term.

As a county board member, Jones would focus on controlling government spending and maintaining the quality of life in Kane County, the release stated.

Additionally, Jones supports a phase-out of health insurance benefits for board members and a discussion of term limits for board members.

Jones has more than 15 years’ experience as an attorney concentrating, including representation of local businesses and community leaders, according to the release.

Since 2010, Jones volunteered as director of the Illinois Wills For Heroes Foundation, providing free estate planning for Chicagoland first responders.

Most recently, Jones served as a commissioner of the Geneva Police and Fire Board for 4 1/2 years and is a director on the Buchanan Family Foundation, a private foundation founded in 1967, the release stated.

Jones is married and has two children who attend Geneva schools.
