Aurora to host virtual ceremony to pay tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday morning

The city of Aurora will host a virtual tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at 11 a.m. Monday morning.

The city of Aurora will pay tribute to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during its 37th annual MLK Commemoration at 11 a.m. this morning.

This year’s ceremony, which is usually held in-person, will be held virtually this year, according to a news release from the city.

This year’s theme, “Be the Voice for Things That Matter,” will be represented by the ceremony’s keynote speaker ABC7 Chicago news anchor and reporter Hosea Sanders, the release stated.

The ceremony will also feature remarks from local officials, musical tributes from Gospel artist Barbetta Neil and saxophonist Theo Fisher, and the presentation of the annual Donna J. Williams MLK Day of Service Awards to community advocates who are helping to move Aurora forward in their respective fields, the release stated.
