State Rep. Maura Hirschauer to host breakfast to honor local veterans

WEST CHICAGO – State Rep. Maura Hirschauer, D-Batavia, will host a Veterans Breakfast to honor those who served the country, according to a news release.

“After our veterans have sacrificed so much for our communities, this is a small way to celebrate their contributions while giving them a space to voice their concerns,” Hirschauer stated in the release.

The Veterans’ Breakfast will be held Dec. 9 at the VFW Post 6791, 431 N. Neltnor Blvd., West Chicago.

Hirschauer has invited State Rep. Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, who is a Marine Corps veteran and the chair of the Illinois House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, to share her experiences and talk about work being done for Illinois veterans.

“This also provides the chance for veterans and their families to learn a little bit more about the work we’ve done in Springfield this year,” Hirschauer stated in the release.

“As a veteran, I have seen first hand how difficult it is to find state and federal resources, especially when returning home from active duty,” Kifowit stated in the release. “This is a great opportunity for veterans to join together in fellowship and share their frustrations in addition to learning about state-level initiatives aimed to improve access to housing, healthcare and state services.”

Hirschauer encourages local veterans and their families to share their thoughts on legislation and other issues they face in their communities while at the breakfast.
