UPDATE: Sheriff releases photo of car involved in hit-and-run crash that seriously injured St. Charles man

Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain released a photo of the vehicle that was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a 72-year-old St. Charles man riding a motorcycle Monday afternoon.

At approximately 4:15 p.m. Monday, Kane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the intersection of Route 25 and Gilbert Street in unincorporated St. Charles Township for a report of a hit-and run-crash. Upon arrival, deputies learned that the driver of a 2020 Harley Davidson three-wheel motorcycle was traveling north on Route 25 and stopped at a red light at the intersection, according to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of a red or maroon SUV was also traveling north on Route 25 and approached the motorcycle from behind at a high rate of speed, the release said. The driver of the SUV struck the motorcycle and fled the scene going north on Route 25, according to the release.

The motorcycle driver was transported to an Elgin area hospital with potential life threatening injuries, the release stated. The Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to assist deputies with the investigation.

The offending vehicle is a red or maroon color SUV, possibly a Jeep Cherokee with front driver’s side damage. At this time, there is no additional information about the driver.
