Hope for Haitians to host 5K walk/run in Geneva

Hope for Haitians will host its 10th annual Fun Bun Run on May 13, 2023.

The nonprofit group Hope for Haitians will host its 10th annual Fun Bun Run on Saturday, May 8 at the Kane County Government Center, 719 S. Batavia Ave., Geneva.

According to a news release, Hope for Haitians builds villages in Haiti, which include industry, agriculture, a community center and concrete homes.

The event, which can also be done virtually, is for both walkers and runners. The run will follow COVID-19 protocol, which will include staggered start times, social distancing and guidelines for masks and sanitizing. The run is a timed event on a certified course.

All participants will receive a race t-shirt, a goody bag and an individually-wrapped Cinnabon roll. The cost is $25 for adults and 12 and under are free. Some of the money raised will benefit a school the organization built in Garde Saline, Haiti. The organization has built 14 villages in the county, which has provided 600 homes for residents, the release stated.
