New COVID-19 cases reported in Kane County back below 100 Tuesday

Illinois public officials on Tuesday reported 94 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and one new death, a man in his 50s. There were 118 new cases reported Monday and 73 cases reported Sunday.

Kane County has now seen 57,580 total cases of the virus and 768 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 104 consecutive days below 8%. The region’s positivity rate increased to 5.3%. Currently, 22% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity stayed flat at 6.6%, and DuPage County’s increased to 4.7%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable six out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,211 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 19 additional deaths Tuesday. The IDPH received the results of 57,483 tests leading up to Tuesday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 3.3%.

Illinois now has seen 1,343,988 total cases of the virus, and 22,066 people have died.
