Another big jump in new COVID-19 cases in Kane County Tuesday

No additional deaths reported

Illinois public officials on Tuesday reported 165 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and no new deaths. That’s a jump from the 106 new cases reported Monday.

Kane County has now seen 53,632 total cases of the virus and 745 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 76 consecutive days below 8%. The region’s positivity rate increased to 6.7%. Currently, 36% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average increased to 7.4% and DuPage County’s increased to 6.4%.

Hospitalizations have increased nine out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,931 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 31 additional deaths on Tuesday. The IDPH received the results of 51,625 tests leading up to Tuesday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 3.9%.

Illinois now has seen 1,261,667 total cases of the virus, and 21,395 people have died.
