Illinois public health officials on Sunday reported 65 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and no new deaths.
That is a decrease from the 83 new cases on Saturday. Kane County has now seen 50,134 total cases of the virus and 706 people have died.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 32 consecutive days under 8%. The region’s positivity rate remained stable at 4.3%. Currently, 32% of ICU beds are available.
The region has 70 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.
Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average remained steady at 4.6%, and DuPage County’s positivity average dropped slightly from 4.2% to 4.1%.
Hospitalizations have decreased 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.
The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,585 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 35 additional deaths Sunday. The state received the results of 75,269 COVID-19 tests in the 24 hours leading up to Sunday afternoon.
The seven-day rolling average of Illinois’ positivity rate decreased from 2.8% to 2.7%.
Illinois has seen 1,174,409 total cases of the virus, and 20,269 people have died.
