Marquette Academy bounced back from a tough Week 1 loss with a dominant 56-14 win over Madison. The Crusaders set the tone early and jumped out to a 42-0 first-quarter lead.

Week 2 in The Times coverage area includes the on-field debuts of Flanagan-Cornell/Woodland and Dwight, Marquette's home opener and Streator visiting Ottawa to continue the state's third-oldest rivalry.

After a competitive, back-and-forth first half, Aurora Christian made key second-half adjustments to pull away from Marquette, earning a 43-22 win in a Week 1 nonconference showdown.

The Marquette football team, under new head coach Ken Carlson, returns a ton of talent on both sides of the ball and hopes to run its consecutive string of playoff appearances to 13 this fall.

In a league that is down to just four teams, but three reached the playoffs last season, Seneca looks to be the favorite again in the Chicagoland Prairie Conference. But the Irish will have tons of fight from Dwight, Marquette and St. Bede this fall.
