Cary-Grove went from a 3-6 season in 2022 and missing the playoffs to the Class 6A state title with a come-from-behind 23-20 victory over East St. Louis on Saturday at Illinois State University's Hancock Stadium.

East St. Louis was dealt a massive blow early in the third quarter of the IHSA Class 6A state championship versus Cary-Grove when four-year starting quarterback Robert Battle exited the game with an apparent lower leg injury. But the Flyers responded well to the adversity.
