Roundup: Milledgeville, Amboy roll to 8-man wins; Erie-Prophetstown finishes off unbeaten run through TRAC West

The Milledgeville Missiles rolled to a 58-16 victory over South Beloit in the regular-season finale Friday night at Floyd Daub Field.

Ashton Nobis ran for 100 yards and two touchdowns, and Connor Nye was 9-for-13 passing for 139 yards and four scores as the No. 2-ranked Missiles (8-1) built leads of 22-0 after one quarter, 40-8 by halftime, and 52-8 through three quarters.

Peyton Sarber and Gage Wilk also ran for touchdowns, and Bryce Aude caught two of Nye’s scoring strikes; Aude also had a 70-yard kickoff return for a score. Nobis and Kieren Harris added touchdown receptions.

Nobis opened the scoring less than three minutes into the game with a 38-yard TD run, then Sarber crashed in from 3 yards out about six minutes later. Nye hit Nobis for a 10-yard TD pass with 18.6 seconds left in the first period.

After Tanner Joiner’s 73-yard scoring sprint got the SoBos (5-4) on the board, Aude returned the ensuing kickoff 70 yards for a TD, then Nobis ran in from 26 yards with 5:02 left before halftime, and Nye connected with Aude on a 12-yard scoring strike with 50.2 seconds left in the half.

Nye then hit Harris on a 37-yard TD pass and Aude on a 30-yard TD pass in the third quarter, and Bryce McKenna ran in from 11 yards out to cap the scoring after Fernando Balderas scored on a 9-yard run for South Beloit midway through the fourth quarter.

Amboy 46, Alden-Hebron 8: The Clippers went on the road and rolled past the Giants, finishing the regular season 5-4.

Erie-Prophetstown 25, Morrison 6: The Panthers finished off a perfect record in the Three Rivers West with a Senior Night win over the Mustangs.

E-P finishes the season 7-2 overall and 6-0 in TRAC West play, winning the first league title in the history of the co-op. After losing their first two games of the season, the Panthers have now won seven straight heading into the playoffs.

It will be E-P’s first playoff appearance since 2014.

Morrison finishes the season 2-7 overall, 2-4 in the TRAC West.

Fulton 41, Dakota 0: The Steamers closed out the regular season with a shutout at home, outgaining the Indians 320-96.

Keegan VanKampen had three touchdown runs, and Patrick Lower tossed a pair of scoring strikes as Fulton (7-2, 6-2 NUIC) ran for 208 yards, passed for 112 more, and averaged 8.0 yards per play.

Endi Qunaj opened the scoring with a 23-yard field goal in the first quarter, then VanKampen had touchdown runs of 10 and 25 yards in the second quarter. Qunaj added a 42-yard field goal, and Lower connected with Jacob Jones on a 20-yard TD pass to give the Steamers a 27-0 halftime lead.

Lower hooked up with VanKampen on a 5-yard scoring strike in the third quarter, then later in the quarter, VanKampen ran in from 23 yards out to cap the scoring.

Forreston 22, Lena-Winslow 20: Matthew Beltran scored a 1-yard touchdown on fourth down on the final play of the game to send the Cardinals to victory over the Panthers in Lena.

Forreston (7-2, 6-2 NUIC) went 89 yards on the final drive of the game to finish off a rally from deficits of 14-0 and 20-8.

Down two scores, Logan Dyson connected with Beltran on a long pass play to get inside the 10 with 16 seconds left in the first half, then Dyson hit Devonte King-Black on a 4-yard TD pass to cut the deficit to 14-8 at the break.

After Le-Win (7-2, 6-2) pushed the lead back to 20-8 late in the third quarter, Dyson hit Beltran on a 23-yard TD pass with 10:23 to play to get the Cardinals within 20-16.

King-Black ran for 82 yards on 16 carries, and Jacob Fiorello had 62 yards on 10 rushes. Noah Johnson added 45 yards on 17 carries, and Dyson was 3-for-6 passing for 68 yards.

Ethan Fye scored all three touchdowns for Le-Win, in three different ways: he stripped the ball and returned the fumble 29 yards in the first quarter, then caught a 6-yard TD pass from Luke Benson in the second, before running in from 3 yards out in the third.

North Boone 41, Oregon 14: The Hawks fell behind 14-0 after one quarter and 28-7 by halftime in a Big Northern Conference road loss.

Oregon finishes the season 2-7, while North Boone becomes playoff eligible at 5-4.
