High school sports roundup for Thursday, Feb. 25

Tessa Prellberg poured in 33 points to lead Hinckley-Big Rock’s girls basketball team to a 63-34 win over visiting Earlville in Little 10 Conference action Thursday night.

Ashleigh Wackerlin added 16 for the Royals.

Emma Benson had eight points for Earlville.

Somonauk 43, Indian Creek 35: At Somonauk, Brooke Heiman scored 17 points for IC in its Little 10 loss.

Geena Sanford had 11 for the Timberwolves.

GIRLS BOWLING

Morris 1,819, Kaneland 1,750: At Morris, Anastasia Workman rolled a 461 series, which included a high game of 158 for the Knights in their loss.

Ella Edwards had a 156 high game and a 404 series for Kaneland. Corinne Gatewood had a 123 high game and a 332 series. Payton Pedersen had a personal-best 117 game and a 302 series. Emma Fiedler had a 92 high game and a 251 series.

BOYS SWIMMING

DeKalb-Sycamore co-op 86, Naperville Central 84: At DeKalb, the meet came down to the final relay, and first- and third-place efforts allowed the hosts to pull out the win.

“The guys had some season-best times this week and raced hard,” DeKalb-Sycamore co-op coach Melanie Chambers said.

Seniors led the way, as Anthony Biundo (200 individual medley, 2:04.55; 100 backstroke 55.99), Timothy Braun (50 freestyle, 22.97; 500 free, 5:22.49) and Donny Gramer (100 free, 50.66; 100 breaststroke, 1:03.31) each raced to a pair of individual wins.
