OTTAWA — Dog owners in Ottawa will want to keep a tighter grip on their furry friends’ leashes, or face fines.
The Ottawa City Council passed an amendment to the already existing leash law at last night’s meeting. According to City Attorney Christina Cantlin, the change was made primarily to clear up some language in the law. Cantlin said that, per the old law, dogs must be “in the owner’s control” and the city felt that needed more clarity.
The new law states all dogs outside the bounds of the owner’s property must be on a leash. If you’re found in violation of the law you could face a fine of $75.
