McKinney and Torstenson

CRYSTAL LAKE – Cassandra Hiller McKinney of Johnsburg and Eric Torstenson of Twin Lakes, Wis., were married at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Crystal Lake. The Revs. Budd Friend-Jones and Mark Schowalter officiated.

She is the daughter of Ronald and Sandra Hiller of Johnsburg. He is the son of Stanley and Sally Torstenson of Twin Lakes, Wis.

Given in marriage by her children, Keegan and Shaun, the bride wore a long white strapless gown adorned with pink and tan stitched and beaded flowers.

She carried a bouquet of pink and white roses hand tied with a pink bow.

Matron of honor was Laura (Gotvald) Tillman of Royalton, Minn. Bridesmaids were Lynn Hiddema of Hesperia, Mich., and Erika Turner of Princeton.

Best man was Eric Thornburgh of Genoa City, Wis. Groomsmen were Brent Donald of Crystal Lake and Ian Torstenson of Twin Lakes. Ring bearer was Jackson Torstenson of Johnsburg.

Nuptial music was provided by the church.

The reception took place at the church.

The bride is a 1999 graduate of Johnsburg High School, a 2003 graduate of Western Washington University in Bellingham and a 2012 graduate of the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. She is director of Green Economy and Sustainable Water at the College of Lake County in Grayslake.

The bridegroom is a 1997 graduate of Wilmot High School in Wilmot, Wis. He is lead mechanic at Bike Haven in McHenry.

They reside in Johnsburg.
