Community corner: John Morrison

John Morrison returned to Barrington in 2003 to start a real estate business in one of Chicago’s most desirable surburbs. Now, 10 years later, business is thriving and he was named the top RE/MAX agent in the state for 2012.

Morrison took some time to talk to Barrington Life about why he wanted to make this area his home base for his family and career.

How long have you lived in Barrington?

My family moved to North Barrington in 1994. I graduated from Barrington High in 1998. I then went to college at UIC and lived in Chicago only to return to Barrington in 2003 to start my real estate career.

What first got you interested in real estate?

What first attracted me to the real estate business was my entrepreneurial spirit. I love working for myself and setting difficult goals and accomplishing them. I like that I have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of people in my community and I love helping them with their real estate needs.

Why did you choose to run your business in Barrington instead of Chicago?

I started my career in Barrington for the same reason my clients are attracted to the area. I knew I wanted to start my family in Barrington, therefore it only made sense to build a career here as well.

From a Realtor’s perspective, what makes Barrington a great place to live?

The overall lifestyle, people, sense of community, award-winning schools, nature preserves, etc. is what makes Barrington such a desirable place to live!

How does it feel to be named the top RE/MAX agent in Illinois?

I feel very proud to accomplish being the No. 1 RE/MAX agent in Illinois.

What went into becoming the top RE/MAX agent in the state?

It took a lot of hard work and many hours to become the No. 1 RE/MAX agent in Illinois. Taking good care of all my clients led to a lot of referrals and repeat business.

Also, staying on top of the latest and best technology and applying it to my systems has played a large role in my success.
