On June 21, St. Joseph Society of St. Vincent de Paul presented Phil and Karen Gilardi, owners of Paisano’s on Broadway, Richmond, a plaque thanking them for three years of support with their Pasta Dinner fundraisers. The society offers financial help to those who request assistance with food, rent, and car repairs, medical and utility bills. With donations such as Paisano’s, and the generosity of their parish, this organization has helped 189 families over the last six years. Faith in Action picked for grant

CRYSTAL LAKE – Faith in Action of McHenry County has received a $5,000 grant from the Andrew & Alice Fischer Charitable Trust of West Dundee.

Faith in Action Executive Director Sarah J. Ponitz said the money will be used for the production of a professional video touting the nonprofit organization’s message and highlighting a few of its clients’ stories.

“It’s a great tool to use for fundraiser,” Ponitz said. “We felt this would be a very powerful marketing tool for recruiting volunteers and securing more donations ... Hopefully, moving forward it can be an asset for us.”

Faith in Action relies on volunteers to provide numerous services to seniors throughout the entire county so they can maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life by remaining in their own home or the home of a loved one for as long as possible. Free services include rides to the doctor or grocery store, wellness visits, yard work, minor home repairs and short-term respite care.
