Letter: Budget cuts

Typewritter, letter to the editor

Mr. Holland, your Dec. 17 article suggests to the taxpaying public that our ruling class is above the norms of society.

Gov. Pritzker failed to in his attempt to amend the Illinois Constitution, which would have given the kleptocracy the ability to raise taxes at will. Any household in Illinois would find this a ludicrous action. The first response of any household is to reduce spending. I do not know of any household that has the ability to demand more money from their employer.

So now, Pritzker announces that he will have to negotiate with the guaranteed voting block known as labor unions. Would this not be a logical part of any organization that needs to reduce costs? His first and best response is to slam the entire constituency with additional taxes because of decades of monumental financial malfeasance.

Whatever you do, don’t mention pension reform!! Is there any media outlet that considers this a vast overreach of power? What does it take for someone to stand up for the citizens that finance this losing tax and spend program?
