Joliet Junior College announced another expansion of its partnerships with four-year universities to provide students a more affordable avenue to earn their bachelor’s degrees.
JJC announced its agreement with the University of Phoenix to allow its graduates to seamlessly transfer their credits to the university and pursue their undergraduate degree, according to a news release.
The 3+1 transfer program allows students to save money by spending three years completing general course requirements at JJC before transferring for one year at another school.
JJC provides a variety of degree tracks through the program. Through its partnership with the University of Phoenix, JJC students can earn degrees in business, health management, information technology and nursing.
“Joliet Junior College’s alliance with University of Phoenix will provide students a smooth transition from an associate to a bachelor’s degree in high-demand fields looking for skilled talent,” Jeanette Konieczka, JJC manager of adult pathways and university partnerships, said in the release.
The agreement applies to all JJC campuses and to online or in-person study at a University of Phoenix location.
Students can transfer up to 87 credits toward a bachelor’s degree and will only need to complete 33 more credits or 11 classes to graduate.
The University of Phoenix will waive fees and tuition for the first course and provides a special associate degree transfer tuition rate for all remaining courses, which amounts to a savings of $144 a course.
