Lincoln-Way D210 board to vote on student fees refund proposal

The Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 board of education will vote on a proposed agenda item to adjust student fees because of the effect of COVID-19 has had.

The fees being looked at are the student athletic and activity fees, which are $50 for the year, and the parking fee, which is $150 for the year. It is being recommended that the board waive the student athletic and activity fee for the entire year and reduce the the parking fee to $75 for FY2021.

At last month’s meeting, Superintendent Scott Tingley said that the athletes in the fall did not have to pay their fees, even the ones that participated, and with the rest of the year in question, he recommended that everyone have the fee waived.

In addition, it is recommended that the board authorize that the administration refund the fees if the student’s account has been paid in full.

According to the board documents, the FY2020 actual total for athletic an activity fees was $150,532. The district budgeted $135,000 for FY 2021, but is now projecting $0 in that category. In FY2020, the actual total for parking fees was $266,535. The district budgeted for $256,000 for FY2021, but is now projecting $128,350.
