Kansas coming to Rialto Square Theatre

Band comes to Joliet during last leg of its Point of Know Return Anniversary Tour

Rock band Kansas will be at the Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet on Dec. 4.

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. performance go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at Ticketmaster.com.

The Joliet show will be part of the last leg of the band’s Point of Know Return Anniversary Tour, a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Kansas hit “Point of Know Return,” according to a news release from the Rialto.

Kansas released the album “Point of Know Return” in 1977.

It became the band’s biggest selling studio album reaching No. 4 on Billboard’s album charts with more than six million copies sold and containing three Billboard Hot 100 singles, according to the Rialto release. The album contained the hit songs “Dust in the Wind,” “Portrait (He Knew),” “Closest Chronicles” and “Paradox.”

“When we wrap up this fourth and final leg, we will have played nearly 100 of these shows,” Kansas lead vocalist Ronnie Platt said in the release. “We have worked hard to give audiences a memorable musical experience with this tour.”

The band plays the “Point of Know Return” album in its entirety along with other hits, deep cuts and fan favorites at the performances, the release said.

Other members now in Kansas are original drummer Phil Ehart, bassist/vocalist Billy Greer, violinist/guitarist David Ragsdale, keyboardist Tom Brislin, guitarist Zak Rizvi, and original guitarist Richard Williams.

The band was formed in Topeka, Kansas in 1973. The most recent of its 15 studio albums is “The Prelude Implicit,” which came out in 2016.
