Smoothie King coming to Joliet

Another development, a Smoothie King franchise, is coming to the Menards-Walmart shopping center on Jefferson Street in Joliet.

The Joliet City Council this month approved a drive-thru permit for the Smoothie King, a restaurant chain that specializes in smoothies. The restaurant will be built on an outlot just west of the Murphy Express gas station in the shopping center, according to city officials.

That would put the Smoothie King between the gas station and another project now under construction – a Belle Tire shop. Both are located away from Jefferson Street within the shopping center in the area in front of the Menards store and behind other businesses on the site.

But the address for the future Smoothie King is 2504 W. Jefferson St.

A letter from a company official to the city said Smoothie King intends to begin construction soon.

The Belle Tire store is one of two that company is building in Joliet. The other is outside the Walmart store on Route 59.
