The developer of a self-storage business along Essington Road is asking the city of Joliet for more time to get started on the project.
Westside Joliet Real Estate, which is developing the site on the north end of the D’Arcy Motors dealership, wants an extension on the special use permit that was approved in January.
The permit requires that construction starts in six months.
The developer is still working on storm water detention requirements for the site and other issues, according to a staff memo to the Joliet Zoning Board of Appeals.
The zoning board will consider the request when it meets at 2 p.m. Thursday. Approval of the permit extension would set a new construction start date in January 2022.
The property is located at 2100 Essington Road.
