D. 202 in Plainfield calling off school for Friday

Reason is transportation and staffing issues due to rise in COVID-related cases

Friday will be a day of non-attendance for students and staff at Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202.

However, 12-month employees and principals should report to their respective buildings on Friday, according to Tom Hernandez, director of community relations for District 202.

The reason for calling off school is logistical transportation and staffing issues due to a rise in COVID-related cases, Hernandez said.

Remote learning will not be provided. In-person learning is scheduled to return on Monday, Hernandez said.

“We’re going to take tomorrow off and reset for Monday,” Hernandez said.

District 202 is using one of its five emergency days on Friday, which were budgeted into the 2021-22 school year. Friday’s day of non-attendance will be made up on May 27, 2022, Hernandez said.

Students at Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 temporarily returned to remote learning on Tuesday, which continues through Friday.

A note from Superintendent R. Scott Tingley on District 210′s Facebook page Monday said the decision was based on the “recent spike in COVID-19 cases causing staffing shortages across the district.”
